In this performance at the ‘Exchanged’ private view in Japan I delivered a thank you card with a difference. Rebelling against the Japanese love of miniaturizing, I created a card big enough for two to get inside. This series of photographs taken in Japan were the result of learning how to make origami flowers and my time spent cycling through the local allotments. I was drawn to the neat rows of vegetables and flowers growing there. ‘Greetings From Japan’ is a stop frame animation starring a greetings card. I have harnessed the performing qualities an object can have to deliver hidden messages to the audience.

The inspiration for the narrative is drawn from my experience of living in Japan. During the months I was there I embraced the joy of letter writing.
